Dances with atoms: IBM researchers create a short film using only microscopic particles
A group of IBM researchers took a break from studying atomic data storage to work on something a bit more lighthearted: a stop motion movie made entirely out of atoms. The film, aptly named A Boy and His Atom, was created by arranging atoms with a scanning tunneling microscope and then capturing the arrangement as an image, magnified to over 100 million times its actual size.

Sometimes art classes require strange things. This may or may not be one of them.

I heard someone mention today that it was “such a lovely winter we’re having this spring”. They weren’t lying.

Happy Earth Day 2013!

Now go talk to some trees or something. Let’em know how much you appreciate them.

Fun and relevant fact: About 10% of the moisture released into the air comes from transpiration, the process by which water is transferred through plants’ roots, into the leaves, and evaporated into the air.

Talk about one of those weeks.

From bombings and a manhunt, earthquakes and explosions, flooding and shooting and all the other crazy stuff. I declare this week officially done!

My Play Store has finally updated! That’s right, finally! I’m assuming that since my phone is one of the lesser important ones, it’s lower down on the update list. Sound right to me.I’m liking the new look. Very sleek. Nice use of the side slide feature. And especially nice use of color coding each of the sections. (Orange for Music, yellow-green for Games, etc.)

The Fast World We Live InSurely by now everyone has heard about the explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. As saddened and appalled as I am about the situation, I can’t help but to be amazed.I’m amazed by the reactive speed that our world has been trained toward. The speed of the law enforcement and emergency crews at the scene. The speed of those that want to help the ones affected. And the super speed of those that are reporting via Twitter, Google+, and etc., transmitting live news around the world nearly instantaneously. It’s times like this that makes the swiftness of our world pay off.

And here we are with the second word! Once again, the project here was to take 20 strips of paper to represent a word in an opposite word pair.

Get guessing now!

I’ve been working this past week on a design project for class. It concerns taking a pair of opposite words and using only 20 strips of paper arranged in a certain way to represent that word. Color can be used in the design, but only two per word. Wanna take a shot at guessing the first word I have here?
